4 years agoGood review and video as usual. As an update, here in the UK 2021 models are starting to arrive and Cube have now fitted an air fork to the Pro model, the SR Suntour XCR32 LO-R Air, 100mm, Lockout unit. A cap on the top of the left fork leg hides the inflation valve and the right has the lockout mechanism.
I’ve been lucky enough to get one of the first into the country, black and blue colour.

4 years agoSweet! Thanks for the update on this Dave. Sounds like a great choice. I hope it works well for you and welcome any further comments down the road as you ride some :D

4 years agoJust bought mine. Would like to add that it came in at just under 27kg so the air forks did not appear to be a weight saver. Should add that I used my bathroom scale so the level of accuracy could be a factor. Mine is a mid-step size S with a 625 Wh battery. It is a lunar n’grey, but I’d call the color light olive green n’grey.

4 years agoThanks for the feedback about the weight, Scott! I appreciate that input a lot and will factor it in as I look at other models vs. just assuming. There are little differences (including size) between each electric bike skew, so this will help others who are making a similar decision. Hope you enjoy the bike!

3 years agoGreat review, Court. I watched it on YouTube and and was very impressed with the level of detail. I am just awaiting a 2022 Flash Grey/ Black 625 pro. I hope to be able to adjust the stem to lower and push forward the handlebars a little. I think it will be a great wee bike and will report back with my observations.
Thank you for such a comprehensive review, meantime, Davie.

3 years agoHey, great choice Davie! I hope you enjoy the bike and would love to hear your observations and experiences with it. Hopefully it comes soon! Keep in mind that you can usually purchase fixed stems and different handlebars from a local shop or online pretty inexpensively if the stock setup feels a bit off :)

3 years agoMy Goodness, Court, what an experience! Heavy bike, but sits on the road well and rides very smoothly. The colour flips between grey, green and blue tinges, hard to explain but lovely to see. I use mostly in eco and to ease the strain on the gears flicking up the modes can be very useful on short, sharply progressive hills.
One thing I would say is some folk report noisy gear changes. I found that if you concentrate, anticipate and give the gears a short break from the power then nine out of ten changes are silky smooth.
My bike left the factory on the first of October and I am riding it already. If you are thinking about getting one, don’t wait. From what I see round about me 2022 will be another sell out year.
Keep up the good work with the reviews!

3 years agoHey Davie! Thanks for the encouragement… I agree with all of your observations and appreciate the tip about shifting smoothly. It’s definitely possible to reduce noise and wear if you ease off a bit on pedal pressure just before and during gear changes. So glad you got your bike quickly and are enjoying it. Yeah, this is a special one for sure :D

3 years agoThanks for the amazing review, so detailed. I actually bought a Cube Kathmandu and love it so much! I have the Lunar Grey, which is a very light green-grey colour. The bike is amazing and there is nothing I don’t love, if I was pushed hard, it would be the length of time required to fully charge the battery, but I just do it overnight so no issue.
Thanks again!

3 years agoHi Kathy! Great testimonial, thank you so much for sharing how much you enjoy the bike. I agree that CUBE really created a special bike with the Kathmandu. I guess with the higher capacity battery, it just takes more time charging… even with the faster 4 amp Bosch charger. I hope you continue to have great rides! Thanks again :)

3 years agoPassed the 10K mark today! Owner since 2020/04. This bike is so strong (speedchip 3.0) with 11-28 cassette brings me my everyday joyride of 40K commuting to Amsterdam. I love this bike!

3 years agoNice!! Sounds like you’re having a blast. My own experience with Bosch motors and quality bikes (Haibike in my case) was really good. They do last a long time. Thanks for sounding off with your report on the CUBE Kathmandu Daan :D
