8 years agoGreat review. Great bicycle. It should be noted that soon there will be another cheaper model called gs, and for the motor I think it’s with gear.

8 years agoThanks for the heads up Dan! I passed this review off to Richard asking for feedback and he didn’t say anything about the motor. I believe it’s a gearless canister personally :)

8 years agoI think this is an entirely fair review, though I had high hopes this would be the “okay, it’s a crazy price, but it’s perfect” bike for me. Well, the crazy price turned out.
Maybe I go back to Plan A now that I’ve seen Specialized roll out their long-awaited April new bikes, I prefer the “old” turbo Levo FSR … same price … but a full suspension balls-out mountain bike … : )

8 years agoHey Adam, as much as I like the Specialized mountain bikes, I feel like the Gocycle was designed for an entirely different purpose. It’s great for light weight, limited space situations. I personally own a full suspension Turbo Levo and love it… but I probably wouldn’t take it on a boat or plane with me the way I might with the Gocycle :)

8 years agoNo question — completely different machines and the overlap in purpose is analogous to living in the city and deciding between a Jeep and a Prius.
I remember your purchase of your bike … and I remember my credit card running away and hiding in the sock drawer to help me resist the temptation to swipe a $7500+ Specialized … still the most appealing bike out there, but I’m also very interested to see what Sondors does next — looks like it might have a hinge ane be a folding bike that could appeal (and at a much lower price point.)

7 years ago1. Interesting review. Have a Brompton already but am thinking about getting a e-folder. One thing not clear about is how long it takes to fold. Being in the UK this is the most critical piece of info in some respects as getting onto/off trains for the daily commute during rush hour is a nightmare at the best of times.

7 years agoHey Richard! Sorry that part was rushed, it folds within a couple of minutes if you don’t break it all the way down. If you actually take the wheels off and want to put it into the bag then it takes at least four minutes in my experience depending on your dexterity and strength. Gocycle has a video with Electric Bike Report on YouTube here where they show it being folded quickly but the founder of Gocycle is the one doing it and he’s strong, unencumbered by bags and in an open environment. Hopefully this helps you out a bit.
