5 years agoWow, a Rad Rover near copy but with a larger battery, and some better specs on a few components. Nice display. Same price too, and consumer direct. Speed can achieve 25 mph. Rad’s gonna need to up their game, or everyone will be copying or surpassing them.

I see an influx of lower cost competitors, and appreciate the improvements or variety, but can see why RPB has stuck to their stats for legal reasons or to help extend range. 5 years agoI liked it enough to pull the trigger and buy it lol. Unfortunately it came beat up a bit, and the shifter lever to downshift broke. Himiway service was kind enough to tell me if I take it to a local shop, they’ll reimburse me. Also was supposed to come with fenders, didnt. Asked about it and they said they’re backordered till March, just wish they’d let me know without me having to reach out..
All in all I’m happy, customer service seems good, hopefully no major issues in the future.
Also bonus, my cruiser came with some nice leatherette handlebar grips, even though all specs and pics I could find say they should be the cheapo rubber ones!!

5 years agoHaving communications error problem on the second ride of this bike. Tech support had me check the cable connection near the sprocket and when that didn’t work they told me to take it to a shop. Where I live there isn’t a shop less than 100 miles away and that shop hadn’t heard of Himiway. Posted on the maint and repair forum, but thought I’d post here as well.

5 years agoHi Dan! I hope someone is able to chime in and share some advice about the communications error. It’s not something I have seen before. I’m bummed to hear about your situation because I can relate, and have heard it before. I tend to stick with local ebike shops when they are available, but sometimes that’s just not an option. Also, going for a more affordable ebike from an online seller is a great way to get into ebikes, but there tends to be a higher chance of issues because they use more affordable parts. This is part of the reason I’ve ranked bikes here as premium, value, and affordable… but I must say, there are some “affordable” brands that are known for great customer support and quality. One of my favorites is Rad Power Bikes, because they have been around for a long time and have a big support team standing by to send replacement parts and stuff. Maybe Himiway can send you a new display or controller or something?

5 years agoHello! I was looking for a nice and practical way to commute to work and a friend of mine recommended a Himiway e-bike! I’m still learning about this world but the bike itself, seems to be very helpful and practical. It came with accessories and it’s pretty well adapted for all kinds of weathers, as I heard.
I just want to know, how can I properly maintain my bike. Do I need some special tools for that? I’ve already order one Cruiser Step-Thru and I want to know more on how to maintain it.

5 years agoHey Bruna! Great question… I recommend using some environmentally friendly chain lube every 10 or so rides. You drip it on as you pedal the chain backwards and then use a paper towel or rag to get it off. You want the chain to be mostly dry after the lube so stuff doesn’t stick to it. This will help the chain shift to different gears easier and reduce rust. It will be quieter too! The other thing is to always keep an eye on tire pressure, don’t let it drop too low or you could get a pinch flat, and changing a tire on most electric bikes with hub motors is no fun… especially with the unique fat tires on the Himiway Cruiser. Finally, I’d recommend storing the bike in a garage if possible, to avoid extended rain, ice, sun etc. but if you must leave the bike outdoors, try to keep the battery somewhere that is cool and dry. Extreme heat can damage and degrade the cells faster. Extreme cold isn’t so bad, but will temporarily stunt the battery range. You can also care for the battery by avoiding draining it below 20% and store around 50% to 80% if you know you won’t be using for a while. It’s okay to charge to 100% but most manufacturers ship about half full because it’s the most stable, and this is easier on the cell chemistry, as I understand it. I hope this helps! You can also get the shifter tuned up by twisting the tiny barrel adjuster near the derailleur (where the wire connects) and up at the trigger shifter. your bike shifter cables will settle in over time, so twisting the barrels counter-clockwise a tick or two will increase the length of the housing and reduce any chattering and clicking you might hear as you ride the bike over time. I hope these tips help :D

5 years agoHi Michael! I cannot speak for Himiway, but perhaps they or another customer will chime in here. My experience with most ebike companies is that they sell product that is manufactured in Asia, they receive, repack, and sell at shops or ship direct to customers. Some of the really affordable ebikes might come directly from China and require a bit more effort and tuning when assembling.

4 years agoIn the case of Himiway, their company seems to be very unreliable when it comes to timely shipping and customer support for the many problems buyers are having with their recent bikes. Probability is they have cheapened their product to increase their profit margin even after increasing their price $100.
I am in process of cancelling my order and asking PayPal for a full refund because of deceptive advertising on their website.

4 years agoHi Michael! Yeah, there have been many products recently that are similar and competing on price (or even availability because ebikes got very popular this Spring/Summer). Himiway checks a lot of boxes with their product, but they’re a bit less known than Rad so the resale value may be lower. We haven’t seen them offering replacement parts or maintaining a battery standard for years like Rad. I personally love the racks and bags that Rad is offering, but appreciate that Himiway also has the rear rack and some lights. I personally see them as the cheaper option (price, quality, and support wise) but that can be good for money savings. The biggest difference is probably the battery capacity (Himiway being larger), but I don’t know as much about the cells they use. For me Rad is a very solid company with a good reputation. I like that their batteries are cross compatible, and I’m willing to pay more (even if it’s the same price for these two bikes, you’re kind of paying more in the sense that you get a slightly smaller battery pack). With Rad you also get the blinking and bright mode for the rear light. That’s my list of things to consider! I hope it helps you and I’d love to hear back about whichever one you choose, and how it rides :D

4 years agoI have had enormous problems trying to get real and accurate information from Himiway. Call it growing pains, or just incompetence, these folks cannot deliver. They don’t know where my bike is, and they have made many false promises. The address they show as their business address is not them. That address is a completely independent company call King Speed. King Speed is the middleman that brings in the products from overseas. All-in-all, lots of false representations and a lack of knowledge on what is going on in their business.

4 years agoMy step though Himway bike shows as being shipped for the last several days. However UPS has no record of receiving the bike. Trying to get any information from Himiway customer service is like pushing jello up hill, never get a concrete answer. I was under the impression this was an American company in CA, but that is turning out to not true. Perhaps all will be better if the bike finally ships and arrives in good shape.

4 years agoWe have given our bike to UPS when we send you the tracking number. UPS has no record because they did not scan it in time and they stock up a lot of goods, it will be a little slow. They will scan the parcels in batches. So they can not find your bike in their system. There is a delay in this situation. Sorry for this delivery problem. How would you compare the Himiway to the MS2 All Terrain R750 HT? I’m torn between the two and they’re both the same price right now. I’m leaning toward MS2 based on customer service reports and shipping times… but there’s pros on the Himiway side as well. Any insight would be really helpful.

This is a really tough question for me because I haven’t spent much time with Himiway or M2S… my friends helped review those models because I have been focusing on site updates and other products. In any case, I tend to lean towards M2S for the same reasons you cite. They seem to have a better reputation and I feel like the brand is more western… like language barriers and stuff wouldn’t be as much of an issue. I’ve been answering comments here for an hour now and saw a couple of people complain about needing a display fixed or other questions and not getting much feedback from Himiway. This is all indirect feedback and perhaps there’s some drama or impatience mixed in. I hope it helps and that whichever product you choose works out great!

4 years agoMy battery reads full, I have 5 bars on my display, the battery was charged for 7 hours so it was fully charged this has happened twice to me I’ve called and left messages on your phone number 877-347-5283 no calls returned very upsetting. Also, when my bike came there was no holder for my cell phone.

4 years agoEven if 5 bars, you still must wait for the red light to turn green, then leave one hour. That light will tell you that it is full. Even so, Himiway recommended 1 hour post green light. Total time from dead they say is 9 hours.

I’ve seen a few complaints recently from other owners, but that may be because it’s the busy season and international events and shipping have been challenging. Good luck!

4 years ago5 months ago Himiway stated they are working on their customer service. Yet 1.5 months ago I called to check the status of my bike. I was yelled at and then hung up on. I had to contact PayPal to get a refund only then did customer service email me to get me to take away my complaint and they would ship out my bike (I found out this wasn’t true). I refused, took my money and bought a Rad bike (very quick delivery and excellent bike). A friend of mine bought 2 bikes at the same time but kept his order. When we ordered, the site stated shipping in April. It didn’t ship until the 2nd week of May. They didn’t apologize to him or even let him know they were running late. His two bikes came but the instructions are hard to read. The pictures/instructions don’t explain how to attach the fenders (or even show fenders); they mention screws but you’re given 4 different screws. You have to guess which screws go where. One bike had missing pieces. Had to go to Home Depot to get extra pieces to put them together. I’m glad I went with Rad bike instead of Himiway. My bike charges at about 1/3 of the time and their customer service was spot on. I hope Himiway works out their inaccurate shipping time and figures out how to talk to their customers better. Their website should have more accurate reviews as well. I highly doubt everyone leaves 5 stars. If they can do that I feel they’ll have happier customers.

4 years agoYou mentioned in the review that it may take a long as 8 to 9 hours to fully charge the battery due to the 2 Amp charger. Is it possible to get a bigger charger to solve the long charging times in between rides. Can you be specific with a recommended replacement charger. Thanks.

4 years agoHi Sal! There are a few cases I know of where companies sell multiple chargers… but they are both for very expensive premium ebikes (Bosch and Stromer). Most of the affordable models (including Himiway) don’t usually offer charger options. However, there is a company called Grin Technologies that has a charger called the Satiator which can be set to charge different battery packs. I don’t have much experience with it, but here’s their official site so you can learn more :)

4 years agoI am researching purchasing my first ebike and recently found the site for Aventon. I love the fact they have a smaller size bike (I am not quite 5′ 4″) AND that it is so much lighter than the other ebikes I have researched. Have you checked out Aventon?
The other two ebikes I am considering is the new Himiway that is coming out soon (20″ wheels – Himiway’s customer support said the currently models were too tall for me???). I was also looking at the Current Himiway Step Thru (although I am not thrilled it is white) and the RadRover Step Thru.

4 years agoHi Linda! I’ve actually reviewed several Aventon models. Here’s the Aventon ebike review category where you can compare some of them. Both of these are newer companies that are doing the direct-to-consumer model. There’s another great company called Magnum that sells online and in store, and another one called Rad Power Bikes that has some delivery vans. Those two have become my favorites because they balance customer support with lower prices and a mixed delivery model that makes it easier to buy and own a product. They seem to support their battery pack designs better than the really small companies and have better resale value. Aventon is also available through some dealers and while they are newer than Magnum, seem to be similar. I have heard from some dealers that Aventon products can require more time and energy to assemble. That’s where my knowledge runs out, I wish you luck exploring the landscape :D

4 years agoI got my Himiway ebike last week and spent the evening putting it together. The box had some damage consisting of three thumb size holes. The derailleur guard was pushed in creating shifting problems with the first two small cogs. I was able to straighten the guard and fix the shifting problem. When I pulled the protective plastic off the headlight lens, there was a crack in the center of the headlight lens. On 9/11 (Friday) I sent an email to Himiway with a picture of the damaged lens to Himiway after- sales Customer Service. Before the sale, their customer service was super fast getting back to me either with a phone call or email. Usually both. Today is the evening of 9/15 (Tuesday) and I have not heard back from their after-sales Customer Service personnel. I am hoping that they are not a typical company that forgets customers after a sale. I will keep everyone posted how this issue turns out. I do enjoy the bike though. Very well made! I agree with a few comments I read concerning the quality of the cardboard used to ship the ebike in. Very flimsy. Happy trails!

4 years agoHi Robert! I hope they get back to you… it’s not fun to buy a product and have issues on day one as you unpack. Indeed, the less expensive ebikes tend to have limited customer service sometimes. As for the derailleur setup, perhaps a local bike shop could do a full tuneup for $100 and get things running perfectly. It won’t solve the light issue, but at least the bike will ride smoothly and you’ll avoid creating any lasting damage to the cogs or chain. I look forward to your future updates :)

4 years agoEverything is good! I straightened the derailleur guard by hand. Your replacement headlight finally came in and is installed. I bought a Bike Hand Maintenance stand and using a youtube video, I was able to adjust the derailleur perfectly! Thanks for a great bike!

I don’t know a lot about Himiway, and this bike was covered by a team member who has moved on to other things now, but I would agree that European brands tend to offer the best customer support and have more premium products. This also raises the price, but I tend to be willing to pay more for my bicycles because I ride a lot and want them to last. The cheapest I’ve gone personally is Rad Power Bikes, which does a great job balancing quality with lower price points. Most manufacturers are using at least some parts from China, because so much of the hardware is only made there today (just like a lot of antibiotics). Globalization, specialization, and the increasing polarization of politics etc. is such a big topic… I guess I just wanted to chime in and wish you a good day, wherever you’re at :)

All I can say is I hope the entire world will learn lessons from China and avoid funding a country who’s entire ambition is to run the world. Here is a fact. In the past 30 months China has produced more warships than the previous 30 YEARS. The world must wake up and quit supporting them. Otherwise a new world order is on the horizon. NOT GOOD FOR ANYONE!

4 years agoI have had an absolutely terrible time with my Himiway experience. When I placed my order in late-June, I was told that the delivery date would be by the end of August. The bike shipped on August 31, 2020. Obviously I wouldn’t receive it in August, but I understand, there is a pandemic on. When it shipped, I was told that it would arrive September. The initial notification of shipment said the bike would be delivered September 4th but it did not arrive until the 8th.
When it did arrive, the front forks were damaged and I was not able to install the front wheel, that is when I began to experience all the bad things I had read about Himiway customer service first hand. There is no point of contact for Himiway customer service outside of China, so if you are in the US, expect to get a since email response a day – I have been dealing with my issue for over a week now – by which I mean I have written three emails and received two responses.
I had to wait a week for a replacement fork to be sent from China. Once it finally arrived, I had to find a bike shop in my area (Washington, DC) that would install the new fork. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a shop in my area that is doing mobile visits at this time and I do not have the means to transport 70+ pound disassembled bike anywhere so I have no idea when I will actually be able to enjoy my bike.
There is a phone number on the Himiway website, which I called to see if there was anyone I could actually talk to about my problems. I left a message and received a call back about an hour or so later. The official Himiway representative who returned my call would not give me his name, openly mocked me for being upset that I was having the issues I had, told me point blank there is no one outside of China who can help me with customer service, raised his voice and talked over me when I was trying to speak, and ultimately hung up on me. I can not in good conscience ever do business with this company again, nor recommend them to anyone, anywhere, ever.
When I was doing my research on an eBike, it came down to Himiway and Rad. When I saw the small (but growing) voice of customers and experts saying that Himiway is great UNLESS you have to deal with their customer service, I should not have taken the gamble. Hopefully someone will be able to learn from my mistake.

The fork is from Chinese manufacturers and so for sure we have to send it from China. There are lots of emails and they cannot response at once sometimes. 4 years agoHi H.A. that’s a great question. I am not the one who actually covered the Himiway Cruiser… however, my team has been trained to measure from the ground up to the top of the top tube just in front of the nose of the saddle. Since the top tube on this ebike slopes up, it’s possible that Himiway provided a more conservative length than we did. I would guess that it’s somewhere between the 27″ to 30″ based on our stats. However, some frames can change and be updated throughout the year, our data is only as good as the day that we measured it and the demo bike we were provided with.

4 years agoBought two Hemiway Cruisers, both bikes arrived damaged. The bracket on the chain derailer was bent on one. The second bike, the back brake lever has to be held up with your finger in order to have power. Then today after only 30 miles of use, the step through bike suddenly lost all power! Switched batteries between bikes and it worked. Obviously the battery has malfunctioned. Have already tried contacting customer service about both bikes arriving damaged with no response. Disappointed and frustrated!

4 years agoI need to know for certain that I will be able to ride comfortably, with an almost extended leg while pedaling and an upright posture. I am 6 4. Some reviews say yes, but the frame is only 20 inches as I recall.( pretty sure I need a 24 25 inch frame. 4 years agoHi Joe, I would say that this would probably not be a good fit for you, you would have an upright posture but probably not be able to get anywhere close to full leg extensions. I haven’t ridden the Himiway personally, but since they only offer one frame size I’d say there’s no way it would be that big of a frame.
I am 6ft 3 and there are only a few bikes that have truly fit me well: The Juiced RipCurrent S, the Trek Verve+ 2, and the Gazelle Ultimate T10+. However, you aren’t limited to those three bikes… what you need to look for is any manufacturer that offers multiple sizes, and in particular an XL size frame. You’re right about needing around a 24 or 25 inch frame, but other frame aspects can sometimes allow longer leg extension on the smaller frames, so as always if you can find a way to test ride on that’s the best!

4 years agoWe have (2) Himiway’s, one step-thru and one fat bike (his & hers). My BIGGEST complaint about Himiway is their service or lack of service after purchase. They have the WORST service after purchase I have experienced with almost any company. They have no US business presence. Everything is in China. If you need a part, you might as well give up. (I have found virtually anything that breaks on a Himiway can be be purchased elsewhere for much less than what Himiway charges). We received one bike after waiting 60 days. The second arrived 2 weeks later missing all the parts needed to assemble it. It took a 30+ days as well as our credit card company issuing us a credit for $1,349 to get Himiways attention. They finally mailed it to us.
I would guess the warranty is useless based on the experience I have had with their service. Their Facebook Page is a COMPLETE JOKE. Himiway and their 3 “Admins” monitor everything. The moment a true statement is posted about any bad experience with Himiway it is deleted (or normally never posted to begin with). The ONLY thing on the Himiway Facebook page is good stuff. The truth is never allowed. Had I known beforehand about how bad their service is I would have purchased another brand.
On the up side, the bike is not bad for the price. It is pretty heavy duty. The tires are 26″ x 4″ and I found they are not cheap to repair or replace. A tire can run $75 and up for a decent replacement. The bike goes for 35+ miles and is easy to ride. I ride a Kawasaki KLR 650 and ZX-10 so an electric bike is easy for me. It is tall and it is heavy. Just know… if you are lucky and get a good one, you’ll probably be happy. If you get a bad one… you could be out $1,350+ and you will be mad.

4 years agoThanks for the dose of truth here, Scott. I’ve been in your shoes before, and it’s no fun. We’ve slowed down on reviewing the cheaper direct-only ebikes here but we have a very open forum section for Himiway where critical experiences are allowed to be shared and I hope this helps the community. I feel that some of our past reviews here have been too positive or maybe not called out the extent of struggles with support or quality. The thing is, we also try to give the benefit of the doubt and I (Court) have not always been the one reviewing the bikes. In any case, your post is helpful and I hope you can enjoy the Himiway or find another ebike to just get out and ride, not have to stress out about the bike working or not.

4 years agoworst purchase experience I have ever had. I cannot stress this enough RUN FOR THE HILLS! DO NOT BUY FROM HIMIWAY!
HIMIWAY did the exact opposite of what is stated on their website and did not provide a real timeline for shipping bikes. I am now stuck with a purchase of two bikes that will not be here for Christmas, an undisclosed foreign exchange fee and no way out of it since they charge a 15% fee for cancelling an order. All this adds up to around $580 on my side that I have no way of getting out of. Customer service is non existent unless you want to be treated rudely and hung up on or if you email you may get an automated response from someone who doesn’t seem to understand English. I recommend paying a bit more and avoiding the headache. I wish I had…

It’s a busy time for ebikes and for shipping right now, but not being able to communicate or receiving rude customer service makes it that much worse. I hope you can eventually get the bikes, forget about the discomfort of this moment, and actually enjoy riding. Hang in there man :(

4 years agoSorry for this bad purchase experience. Our return policy shows any and all pre-orders that are canceled prior to shipping are only eligible for a 92% refund of the total order price. So we only take an 8% processing fee if you cancel your order. We will not charge the customer a 15% fee. Also, we did not receive your email. We will help you to solve this problem if you email us.

4 years agoUPDATE! after the terrible customer experience in early December, I was contacted this week by Himiway to address my grievances. They offered waiving the cancellation fees which are 8% (not 15% as stated by the representative over the phone). I asked if I could receive my bikes before Christmas as originally intended and with their help I was able to pick up both bikes yesterday.
Charlin from Himiway was very understanding and helpful and I must say did everything in his power to make up for the initial experience. I have not tried the bikes out yet but will be sure to review after Christmas.

4 years agoMan am I bummed about buying this bike from Himiway. It arrived late November, assembled and only got to ride 9 miles before an error 24 on the display. Checked youtube for a remedy and cleaned the connectors and ensured a solid connection, still no luck. Contacted support that day and heard back 2 days later. After much back and forth they shipped me a motor that I had to pay a deposit for, which I was certain would have a wheel and tire attached. Much to my surprise, three weeks later, just a motor, with no instructions on how to replace or resources on where to get it fixed.
I have since filed a charge back with my credit card company, as I don’t believe I should be on the hook for 1,500 dollars when the bike arrived defective. I also found that Himiway suppresses negative reviews and feedback on their facebook and website. I feel that this is extremely misleading, as all we have to rely on when purchasing, is others experiences. I know this to be true because I posted a one star review on their site that never showed up and the same review on their facebook page that got deleted.
If I were looking for a bike again, I would absolutely steer clear of Himiway. This experience has made me nervous to buy another e-bike online.

That’s awful… and expensive and time consuming to fix, even with the correct tools. We do not suppress Himiway or any other brands here, and I have noticed that some companies monitor and reply. I feel that you expressed yourself very professionally with your comment, and I’m happy that your words may reach some others who are on the fence about saving money vs. having support and a more reliable product. It’s difficult to do reviews here sometimes because we are given brand new working products for just a few days. Many times, they come off looking great! But this is why I work so hard to moderate comments and support the forums. I hope it makes a difference for you, and again, I’m sorry for your situation :(

4 years agoI have a rad rover 5 on order and suppose arrive this week. I call customer service and mention about canceling the order because of the himiway fat bike. The himiway was 200 dollars cheaper and has bigger battery and farther distance. After reading the problems with customer service, I decided too, keep my rad rover 5. The customer service with rad rovr company is the best. They have different depts. To reach out with problems on your bike. You don’t have to email them, like himiway. For me this is a red flag with himiway customer service. I’ll stay with rad because of the 5 star customer service.

4 years agoMike, You are a smart man. Rad is a great bike. Himiway is a excellent ebike too! But, Himiway is nothing like Rad when it comes down to customer service. I can’t imagine Rad doing what Himiways does to their customers. They wouldn’t be in business very long. I don’t think Himiway is going to last very long, because they lack communication with their customers. Himiway has only one phone number to reach them. They hired someone to answer the phone who cannot give you any information on what is going on with shipping, finance, or anything to do with receiving your purchase. Worthless BS! I’m am sure you would be better off with RAD then Himiway! I purchase three bikes from himiway. The first one came in 8 weeks, the second ebike I am still waiting for after ordering it 12 weeks ago. The third one I might cancel do to learning what kind of people are running the Himiway service, and shipping departments. The bikes are excellent, but the company sucks big time. I will never order anything from them again. And I will not refer them either! Good luck with your Rad ebike, I’m sure you made the right choice.

Note: I will caution anyone that purchases a Himiway ebike, that they have only one phone # to a contact named “John”, who really doest’n have a clue where, or when your Ebike will arrive. I was suppose to receive my 2nd. ebike from Himiway today. But, this morning I received a email from the shipper that they cannot deliver this bike to me because of an address problem. I verified all that information before it was sent to me with Himiway. Note: I ordered this Himiway “Escape” ebike on Oct. 27, 2020. It was a Christmas present of my wife. Today is Jan. 19, 2021. Still waiting for my wife’s Christmas present. Without a doubt, Himiway bikes are awesome! But, the people who run the show are totally clueless of how to run this company. This is amateur at its best. I will caution your purchase with Himiway if you are in a hurry! They claim 6-8 weeks, BS! I’m going on 12 weeks and still waiting! I have the Cruiser already. Beautiful, solid bike. Almost 600 miles on it, and small problems. The bottom on the kickstand fell off, but they sent me another one 6 weeks later. I didn’t know that it could come off. The main problem I’m having with Himiway is with the time from purchase to delivery is horrible, extremely bad! So this is a Himiway customers honest opinion of the Himiway system. I really hope they find people who can straighten this company out, because the bikes are excellent! The service is the worse I ever had from any company! I pray for better luck on yours! Because I’m still waiting to give my wife her Christmas present! Thanks! Himiway!

4 years agoThanks! Court EBR: I like the Himiway Cruiser, it is a well built bike! Like I said. I ordered my second ebike, the Himiway “Escape,” on Oct. 27, 2020 for my wife’s Christmas present! Today it is Jan. 24, 2021, and I still don’t know when it is coming and it is going on 12 weeks, or a quarter of a year since I ordered it! I have every email that I wrote, and received from Himiway! They sent drafts to tell me, and supposably 81 of their other customers that were affected by this problem on how sorry they are bla!bla!bla! and we will be sending you another tracking number (# 2) in three days, because FedEx made a mistake on Himiway’s account! Really! Did Himiway pay for their shipping account bill with FedEx? This is amateur BS! I read many reviews before I purchased a ebike from Himiway! 98% of them were great. The company delivered my first Himiway Cruiser within 6-8 weeks just like they said! But that has changed! Everyday I get useless drafts of emails from different people in Himiway! Pretty much saying the same BS with a different name attached on it! All I want is the Ebike that I ordered from “HIMIWAY” 12 weeks ago, and counting, so I can give my wife her very late Christmas present! Thank you!

4 years agoThis bike is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Opened up a huge new world to me and has done wonders for my health! Do a group ride every Tuesday night, first night used 5 bars to complete the course, last night 5 weeks later used 1 bar. Incredible! Thank you Himiway for pushing me to do better each week. Customer service is awesome. Sent an email to Himiway cs, explained issue with gear not engaging in 7 and slipping out of 1st. Found out that I had a bent derailer hanger, bike shop said probably damaged in shipping. Told cs that the bike shop straightened the hanger, but it was weakened by the bend. 10 days later received a new hanger in the mail. So happy with the Customer service!

4 years agoCourt thanks for your excellent site and reviews of the Himiway bike, I was going to buy , but after reading all the bad news about the company I am going to buy another Rad. The delivery in the fall took much longer than expected cue to Covid,however the bike is great, the customer service is outstanding. The Rad Rover is great flat country bike and I need more gears to pull my overweight 72 year old body up the hilly terrain in my area. Thanks for your outstanding site .

4 years agoMy customer service experience with Himiway has been outstanding. I left a message on a Saturday morning and received a call back by noon on Saturday. My issue was regarding a credit of $100 when you buy two bikes. I purchased the bikes at different times bit the honored the $100 back offer anyway. The next day, on a Sunday, they credited my credit card $100 and sent me an email letting me know they took care of it. Who does that on a Sunday? I owned Rad Rover for 5 days, returned it, and switched to Himiway. I couldn’t be happier with this company.

4 years agoHi Eddie! The bike might feel a bit large, mainly the height of the top tube. If you are comfortable riding normal bicycles and okay with the extra weight here, the bike is fairly balanced due to the large tires. I personally think that it could work, but a couple of companies now offer step-thru fat tire bikes that might be worth considering if you’re concerned (or plan to load up the rear rack and ride on terrain that’s not as flat and stable). Good luck, I’d love to hear back if you do go with the Himiway :)

4 years agoI received my Himiway bike back in December 2020. I also thought this company was located in the U.S. But now I see they are in china (as I see that everything is). I have had problems with my pedal ongoing. There is a very annoying clicking sound in the pedaling. I have asked for a new set of pedals, however they informed me that the pedals are not in stock and they don’t know when they will be available. This bike is still under warranty and I wish they could just send me one set of new pedals. If anyone out there has a phone number I could get ahold of someone I would really appreciate it.

4 years agoHi Gary! Sorry to hear about your pedal making a clicking noise. I’ve experienced this before on some cheaper products, and it may be the bearings or something. Cheap pedals can sometimes crack or flex, and they just aren’t as secure or smooth as the nicer ones that I’ve tried. Thankfully, it’s not too expensive to replace pedals, and I’d recommend these ones from Wellgo for a great value/quality compromise :)

3 years agoI got my Cruiser step thru in March. First of June it died. Wouldn’t turn on. Days of wrangling with horrible tech support led to backordered replacement parts. Finally arrived 24 days later, first of July. Replaced the screen. They had me send the unused controller to another customer but refused my deposit refund until THAT customer returned it. I had to call him directly to expedite that. Then Aug 18, the same thing happened. Won’t turn on. Support refused to send me replacement parts claiming they’d already done that. They don’t read emails explaining it’s a repeat problem. Finally promised to do so but gave me a bogus tracking number, claiming it is en route, but it’s not. THEN they failed to send the controller. Now claiming backorder. Owned the bike 6 months. Unusable for 6 weeks so far and no end in sight. If and when parts arrive, I am expected to completely rebuild the bike, replacing controller, wiring and display. They refuse to discuss a refund, replacement or a bike shop to make the repair. RUN RUN RUN as fast as you can. Worst bike/company ever. BTW, don’t bother calling the phone number, it’s fake. Yep, fake. There is NO U.S. presence whatsoever.

3 years agoI need to get my money back on this one. I can’t just eat $1500. I wish somebody had warned me before I got into this. Besides the lack of a bike, the aggravation has been relentless. They only answer my emails at night and wake me up with their BS lies. I should filter them, but if I wait until our day time to answer, it will be another day’s delay.

3 years agoDo not expect anything from Himiway customer service! We ordered 2 Himiway step thru bikes March 8th 2021. They were a month behind the date we were told they’d be delivered. They finally arrived, we had a professional bike shop assemble the bikes. So far so good as we rode them 3 times. When we charged the battery the 4th time, a great arcing spark happened at the connector to the battery and smelled really bad and burnt. The battery no longer would charge.
We contacted Himiway and they said they would send a replacement and we had to send it back. They asked we pay $99 for the return of the battery and we thought that was really odd. Here is where everything went downhill. We were told to try a battery shop. No one would touch it. We sent it back and after 71 emails back and forth and MASSIVE lies, we still have no battery months later. We were promised a temporary battery and they never shipped just excuse after excuse. In conclusion, if you get a good bike, lucky you. If you need any help from HIMIWAY, you WILL BE treated horribly and very unprofessional. AVOID

3 years agoHi Ruth! I really like your name. Unfortunately, I dislike what you’ve had to go through with Himiway. That sounds very frustrating, and I appreciate you sharing here so others can consider the trade-offs for a cheaper bike vs. one that costs more but offers better customer service. This is part of the reason that I keep the comments open here, and on the EBR forums for people to share. I have heard numerous complaints about customer service from some companies, and it’s difficult. I hope you can find a better product and company next time, and that if your bike is working now it will stay working! Hang in there.

3 years agoI’m trying to figure out why Himiway wont fix my bike. I bought two, one cruiser and a step-thru. The cruiser in PAS 0 has complete motor shutdown, I believe that’s how it should be. But the step-thru, while in PAS 0, still has power to the motor. One would think the controller might be the problem. I asked for another one to fix the problem but they say controller is married to the bike, LOL, I would take any thoughts on this matter. Thanks, David

3 years agoHi David, perhaps the one of the models has a newer controller than the other. Sometimes companies have to adjust hardware throughout the season if one version is selling faster or the original part has been difficult to get. It’s odd that the bikes you have are the same except for the frame style, but the behavior is different. I’m not an expert, and I don’t have this ebike in front of me to tinker with, but maybe there’s a setting you could adjust using the LCD display? Many times you can reach this menu by holding up and down for several seconds or holding a menu button. You could also ask for some help on the Himiway forums to see if any other owners have ideas and suggestions.

2 years agoI purchased a new Zebra step-thru from Himiway of Montibello CA. 323-303-3115. Upon arrival the front forks were bent sideways. In other words, if you push this bike in a straight line, there are two tracks in the dirt. I received it on Friday 8/19/22 and today 8/26/22 Himiway still is refusing to refund my money. They want to send me a new set of forks and have me fix it. I suggest you purchase your bike from a more reputable company than Himiway. Do you know of a main, centralized Himiway office in the United States where I can send my new bent bike pictures so that I might get a refund. Himiway has already acknowledged that the bike is deformed beyond use. The new bike says 1 mile on it.

2 years agoHi Rusty! Maybe someone will see your comment and chime in with a positive review. Perhaps the majority of owners are happily and out riding, so they less vocal online. As someone who has reviewed a lot of ebikes, I can say that it will probably work fine, and be a lot of fun. In the off chance that a part is broken, or the battery doesn’t last as long, you may spend a disproportionate amount of time trying to get support and parts from certain companies that charge less and don’t invest in the same parts and support teams that others do. It’s part of what helps keep the price low. I wish you the best, and as someone who has only reviewed brand new Himiways (or seen them) I can say that I still had fun riding and many of the parts were shared and trustworthy on their own.
