8 years agoHi Court, You do a really great job on your bike reviews, we enjoy watching them. My wife and I each have a Stromer ST2 and we just watched your video review of the ST1 X. It was very well done. Some comments: we find that the noise from the motor is very small, it’s hard to hear in fact. During your test ride there were a lot of clicking noises, which I think occurred when you were shifting and going through the gears. The battery you showed when the ST1 X was opened is the one (814 Wh) that comes standard on the ST2. The emphasis in your report (and Stromer does this too) is that the bikes are great for commuting and riding in the city. I wish that reviews of the Stromer bikes would also state that they are really great for longer rides and for recreational riding too. It’s not that hard for us to get 50 to 60 miles of range when using assist levels 2 and 3 as much as we need to. When I use assist level 1 more, pedal more and shift into the lower gears more (and as a result go slower), the range is even better. We also enjoyed your video about car camping in your Prius. Very well done! Thanks and keep up the good work!

8 years agoHey Roger! I especially enjoy hearing from owners such as yourself… It’s great to get some real-world perspective and insights that get lost or glossed over in “reviews”. You know, I do my best to cover things on the fly with a bit of riding and talking to reps and shops but it’s not the same as owning it. Thank you so much, keep enjoying your bikes :D

6 years agoWhat a great bike Court and awesome review. Love the GPS tracking feature and touch screen. I also contacted Stromer, they honor their warranty even purchased used. This means their warranty will apply with 2nd or 3rd owner as long as it is within their warranty limits.
One area of missed opportunity with many ebikes manufacture, there is no integrated gps tracking and transferable warranty, similiar to electric vehicles. This would encourage buyers a real value why they should be spending thousands of $$$ on an ebike. Just a suggestion or feedback. Thank you.

6 years agoHi court, could you please do a review for the new ST1X models. There seems to be a number of upgrades that would be nice to get a detailed look at. I was not a big fan of the frame colors for the original ST1X models, but the new “ocean” frame color actually looks pretty good.

6 years agoHi BK, yeah! I’d love to cover some of the new Stromer models and have been working with several shops that carry them. I’ll keep after this but am actually a bit distracted by website migration and maintenance for the next month or so. Thanks again for the request!

5 years agoHi Court, I have a Stromer ST1X and would like to get a rear trunk bag. Can you tell me which bag you would prefer?
ReplyCourt
5 years agoHi Xhemal! There are many bags to choose from and I’ve used some of the less expensive ones (which work just fine), but Topeak makes great stuff and this one has a sturdy build, reflectors along the sides and back, a place to clip a light on the back, a handle on top, and the sides open up to extend down as panniers. The only catch is that it’s designed to work with the Topeak rack clip-in system, and I’m not sure that it would work with the Stromer ST1 X rack. I don’t see velcro straps in their photos on Amazon and cannot remember the details of this bag (even though my Uncle owns and enjoys it). In short, I found another trunk bag that looks very similar, has the same fold-out side features, and does have velcro attachment points along the bottom. Let me know your thoughts, especially if you get this bag, it looks pretty good to me.

5 years agoThanks for the reply. Which Ebike are you currently using at the moment and why?

4 years agoHi there, I recently bought a Stromer ST1X from Amego electric Vehicles in Toronto, Ontario. The bike came with a front fender support broken. I contacted Amego, but no reply. Not surprised. Then, I contacted Stromer Co in Switzerland and same response. NO reply. I called Stromer USA phone number and of course no answer. Has anybody experienced issues with customer support from this company? Any suggestions? I would appreciate any input.. Thanks.

4 years agoOh man! That sucks… It seems like Stromer has been withdrawing from the US a bit, because their Southern California HQ closed down a while back (or moved). Maybe Amego is just busy? I can forward your phone number to the founder if you want to reply with it (I won’t publish it). I feel like they normally do a great job. Stromer makes some amazing products, but they are expensive and the support is important. Hopefully we can get something figured out so you can actually reach the shop for support.
